The True Homes Foundation has multiple initiatives to make a lasting impact on their communities, with their affordable housing initiative being a main focus due to the lack of affordable housing in the market.
Our Program Mission
We at True Homes have recognized the pressing need for affordable housing in the communities we serve in the Carolinas and are determined to be part of the solution. As one of the largest private semi-custom home builders in the region, we understand the impact that affordable housing can have on individuals, families, and entire communities.
Everyone deserves an opportunity to own a safe and comfortable place to call home, regardless of their initial economic situation. By committing True Homes internal resources, we are demonstrating our desire to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
The Doorway to Prosperity Program
Through our Doorway to Prosperity program, we offer affordable home opportunities to households with an area median income of less than 110% with a priority focus on those at 80% and below. This program utilizes down payment assistance offered through community and lending partnerships combined with True Homes commitment to build at price points that rarely exist. This initiative allows more families to cross the threshold of homeownership and build generational wealth.
Since 2022, True Homes has provided 94 Doorway to Prosperity homes and over 100 more are currently under development for 2025.

Our 7 Step Process
True Homes is here to guide you through the entire homebuying process!
We have partnered with local lenders and educators who offer down payment assistance programs and grants. On average, our clients have received $30,000 in Downpayment Assistance. With each clients situation being unique, our goal is to provide you with all possible solutions and assist you in your decision.
Step 1: Fill out contact information and someone from our True Homes Foundation Team will be in touch on next steps.
Step 2: Attend an Affordable Homebuyer Seminar – these are held monthly in various locations around the Charlotte metro area.
Step 3: Talk with a preferred mortgage lender about current financial standing and they will guide you on which Homebuyer Education course to sign up for. *At this step, you will be added to Doorway to Prosperity Home Buyers Club Interest List.
Step 4: Take Financial Empowerment Course OR take Homebuyer Education Course from partner in your area.
Step 5: Receive certificate from Downpayment Assistance Program Partner in your area stating you are qualified. *At this step, you will move to Doorway to Prosperity Priority List.
Step 6: Review with lender ALL options for down payment assistance and grants you qualify for.
Step 7: True Homes will contact you to discuss potential matches for your preferred location and qualifications that are provided by your lender and program partners.
